Bagels with Blueberry Glaze A Delicious Breakfast Recipe

Blueberry bagels are a sweet, tasty breakfast treat that is easy to make. They are also a favorite of many people who prefer the crunchy texture of this type of bagel over the chewy texture of a traditional one.

The best part about blueberry bagels is that they can be made in bulk and frozen for later use. This makes them an ideal choice for breakfast on busy mornings or when you need to make a large batch ahead of time.

Blueberry Glaze

I made this recipe on a whim.

It was ok, not the greatest thing ever but ok. The bagels once all finished, had quite a yeasty taste. A bit too strong. It was the quickest recipe that I could find. You probably shouldn’t use a recipe only because it is fast….

Blueberry Bagels

  • 1 package of active dry yeast
  • 2 tbsp (28g) sugar
  • 1 1/4 cups (295ml) warm water
  • 3 1/2 cups (437g) flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup of blueberries {tossed in 1/4 cup of flour}

Dissolve the yeast and sugar in 1/2 cup of warm water, and let rest for 5 minutes. Mix together the salt and the flour – making a well in the center. Add the yeast and the additional water to the flour. Gently fold in the berries.

Knead until you have a soft and elastic dough. Cover the dough and let rise until doubled, about 1 – 1 1/2 hours. Divide the dough into 8 balls. Press into the center of each ball, forming a hole, and stretch to form the bagel shape. Let rest for 30 minutes.

Oven 425F.

Bring a large pot of water to a boil.

Boil the bagels – 1 or 2 at a time for 3 – 4 minutes; they will float to the top when ready. Place on the baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.
