Easter Eggs & Baby Bunnies

Dyeing Easter eggs, I don't think I have done this in years. The last time was probably when I was in middle school or something. We used to always go to San Diego for Easter to visit, one set,   of grandparents. (I have three different sets of grandparents). I always thought it was the coolest thing to take the white crayons and write on the eggs before dyeing them, so they would always end up saying silly things or have peace signs on them probably.

I tried to go a bit more classy with these eggs. Pastel colors, marbled and speckled.

The marbled ones are a lot easier than you would imagine.

For normal egg dyeing:

1 cup hot water + 1 tbsp white vinegar + food coloring

once you have dyed an egg and let it dry, make:

1 cup hot water + 1 tbsp white vinegar + food coloring of an opposing color + 1 tbsp olive oil

Swirl around the mix with a fork, because the oil will just sit on top. Then roll your egg in the mix, gathering as much color streaks as you want. Then pat it dry with a paper towel and let dry.

For the speckled egg, after you have dyed it whatever color you want, make

1 tbsp hot water + 1 tsp white vinegar + 5 drops of food coloring

You will want a strong color for this so it will show up

Then I placed the egg in a large plastic bag, so I wouldn't get the speckles everywhere, and took and toothbrush dipped in the mix  and flick it on.

So if I have the chance to use baby bunnies for a photoshoot, how can I resist? My aunt raises and sells bunnies, The Rabbit Hill, so this time of year she always has little cute babies.

They were so cute and would fall asleep in my hand.

Little fluffy babies. My whole family instantly fell in love with them. Enjoy their cuteness.

I have gotten a few responses that the bunny in the pot photos are morbid or disturbing. Just to let everyone know, they are just meant to be silly and campy.

For those of you who know, I am a vegetarian, so the thought of cooking a rabbit or any other animal would be absurd to me. So I just wanted to play on what I find a silly idea.

So just look at them, enjoy the baby bunnies and don't think about it too much! :)
